Rock 'N Learn Phonics DVD's Vol. 1 & 2 Review and Giveaway!

I was recently given the opportunity to review some great DVD's from Rock 'N Learn. I was provided with free copies of the Rock 'N Learn Phonics DVD's Volumes 1 and 2. We just got back from vacation and the kids are getting ready to go back to school in 2 weeks, so these came at a great time.
Rock 'N Learn was founded in the mid 80s, by Richard and Brad Caudle, two brothers who put their professions of school psychologist and rock musician together to make a fun and entertaining way to teach children the basics and to keep learning fun and easy for everyone.

Rock 'N Learn Phonics Volume 1:
The Rock 'N Learn Phonics DVD Volume 1 concentrates on short vowels, consonants, blends and digraphs, word families, silent e, and read-along stories. The DVD teaches children through fun animated characters, great music and memorable rhymes to make everything easier to remember and fun to learn. At 70 minutes long, we actually had to break it down into 2 sessions, but was very easy to do because there are 28 sections to the DVD!

My 9 year old was very captivated on trying to say everything before the animated characters did. She wanted to show how smart she is! My 5 year old daughter enjoyed most the read-along stories and the songs to sing after the story. My 1 year old enjoyed just dancing around to the music with his sisters.

Rock 'N Learn Phonics Volume 2

Volume 2 begins teaching long vowels, vowel combinations, syllables, ending sounds, silent consonants, and read along stories. With the delayed answers, my 9 year old was really able to put her skills to the test. Although she was a bit more advanced, she enjoyed showing off what she already knew and was excited about a new way of learning. It was a great way to review before she starts back to school. My younger daughter was intrigued and enjoyed sounding out the words, listening to the stories, and singing along.

I was extremely impressed by these DVD's. Combining education with a visual aid and music is a great way to get children interested and excited about learning.  We will definitely be watching these around my house more, especially for my younger ones to learn from. The Rock N Learn website has got tons more to chose from which include reading and writing, math, science, test preparation, other languages, and social studies. Rock 'N Learn has media available for Pre-school age and up. The age target for the Phonics DVD's are 6 and up, but I must admit, I had a 5 years old singing and clapping and a 1 year old dancing. We had a great time reviewing these DVD's!

If you are interested in buying these DVD's, the Rock 'N Learn products can be found at rocknlearn.com, Barnes and Noble's education DVD section, and Amazon.
